Hi. We have been here nearly 5 years now, plenty of Brits about and the winter weather is rarely too bad on town. Just a few really cold days a season. And the summers are great. Any questions just shout loud or send me a pm

Congratulations Maxinehynes five years I just read you thread I hope well be as happy as you are when we reach our five years (fingers crossed). I'm settling in now been here nearly four months loved the long hot summer. Can't believe there's lots of Brits here haven't met many yet, I'm sure I'll have many questions in the months to come. I have a fab neighbour which has really helped, but the humour is not quite the same haha.
I'm hoping to look for work in the New Year hopefully meet more people then.
Glad to hear the winters are not to bad as I must admit that scared me 4d32ftw, more questions will come, oh by the way where's the best place to get skiing clothes ? ) Thanks all so helpful!

Depends on the budget really.
Most of the big box clothing stores will sell ski stuff, but not much choice.
Sport check or Dawson's in Aberdeen mall sell stuff, there's a shop on Victoria st around 3rd can't remember the name but it's almost opposite
The hoja Mongolian place. Watch out for ads in the paper as there are often 2nd had swap sale things going on this time of year.
You can also pic up 2nd hand boots n skis etc from the consignor shop on notre dame. I'm sure there are more places but can't remember them right now.

You can't move in Kamloops for bloody Brits….including us My husband Marc & I have been here since Sept 2012.
We live a little north of Westsyde with our dog. We have probably accumulated lots of info and experiences that we might be able to help you with. I have a friend who works on the hospital switchboard in case that will help you and after all this time, we literally just got registered with a doctors surgery!!
Feel free to PM me and i'll message you back with my phone number and we can get together for a cuppa if you like.
Take care, Katie

Re: New to Kamloops,BC
Hi everyone! I'm afraid I haven't got any advice as I am a Brit wanting to move to Kamloops! My wife and I and our 4yr old twin boys are desperate to move there! I am currently looking for work as a Construction Foreman and hoping to get a temporary work permit. Would any of you know any construction recruitment agencies in Kamloops or surrounding area? - thought it may be worth a try??
Hoping that one day soon we can also meet up for coffee!!!!

A good place to start would be to contact a guy called Tully Journeay. He is a "Regional Employment Placement Specialist at the British Columbia Construction Association"
I don't have his card to hand, but if you Google him, I know for sure that his Linked In (which I don't use) comes up and if you don't already have one, set up a simple profile and you can contact him.
I think you can also get more info and help here http://www.stepbc.ca/contact/
It gives you the Kamloops office number and I think this is where Tully works.
Kamloops is not an easy place to find good work. We know 2 people who are in the construction trade and have had to go to outer Vancouver area for work. So it pays to be patient and network. A lot.
Good luck!
Katie
