New and Impressionable!

Guess now is the time to say hi! My husband and I have argued over applying for permanent residence in Canada for about two years. The arguments are over and the application has gone!

We sent our SW application form off to London about...... oh 4 hours ago! I guess we have a long long wait ahead and hope to vent our frustration out here - hope you all don't mind too much. We promise to return the favour! Any application stories you have to share will be most welcome! We are both very excited and not at the tearing our hair out stage just yet .... give us a week!

Good luck to you all x

There's a moral to that story - for anyone else out there arguing over whether to go or not: put your application first and then in and then worry about deciding.

No doubt you will be up to 10,000 posts by the time your papers come through but it will be worth the wait!

Where abouts are you thinking of moving to?

Welcome Mr and Mrs T  has anybody told you about the madness yet? good...................... it will come, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but some time in the future and then  you'll be lost in the abyss.

On a serious note me and the OH have only been waiting since mid April - but I wish you luck for whatever the future brings.:thumbsup:

Hi There

We have just returned from Ontario and have the forms ready to send off for Skilled worker route. My query is, did you complete the forms of the cic site and how did you pay for your fees? Was there any other info needed?

Thanks

Re: New and Impressionable!

The fun started for us when we had to decide what to bring and what to get rid of. We decided to travel light and only bring things we could not replace in Canada. That was still 4 pallets full. Ended up having a dozen or more garage sales and going to car boot sales week on week. You would not believe what people will buy.
There is a lot of groundwork that can be done to prepare for moving while you wait for the process to complete. This can make it easier and faster when the paperwork eventually comes through.

Aahh - mere babes ! Welcome - madness does come quite quickly - and by the time you arrive here, all hope may be lost on your sanity - but hey, enjoy the ride, we all did/do/have !

It tells you on the site how to pay for your fees. Just work out how much you need to send then order a check from your bank made payable in canadian dollers to the 'Receiver General for Canada' . My check and completed application form have been ready to post since last week but I have not sent them yet as I have been busy reading all the threads on this forum to check that I am doing the right thing. Just make sure that you meet all the criteria (ie enough points and proof of unecumbered funds before you proceed. Then prepare youself for a long wait!!!) I completed my forms on the CIC site but you have to print them off and post them as they are unable to accept e-mailed applications. Good luck. :):)

Thanks Alex

Great to hear someone is at the same stage as us, its so scarey, but exciting at the same time! Where are you looking to go? Are you going through SW route? Maybe we could keep in touch with each others progress!

Take Care

Hoping to go to Edmonton Alberta as my sister and her family have just moved there. She went the quick route via LMO with her employer (she is a nurse). We are applying SW route.Think We are just going to have to sit it out for now. It will give us chance to save and declutter (hopefully).

It is great to see that we are not the only ones on this site with such a trek ahead of us! I printed off my forms from cic and sent a bankers draft which was easy to get from the bank! we are hoping to move to Ontario! x

Its good to get some vicarious excitement from reading these posts. I made the move in 2004 (to BC) after falling in love with Canada while on holiday here. It sure was an exciting process- I enjoyed every minute. Good luck, you are unlikely to regret this momentous decision!

It would be great to keep intouch with each others progress with us being at the same stage. I'm going to the bank tomorrow to get our cheque sorted and off it will go. I had to confirm our plans with my parents at the weekend, NOT GOOD!!!, but i'm sure they will come around to the idea, i'v kind of trying to tell about all of the lovely holidays they will experience.

Keep in touch:(

Separation from family is the biggest problem of all for many people. It is often the thing that wrecks the whole dream. Hopefully you will be able to visit each other often enough for it not to matter too much. Good luck.
