Hi we visited Barrie and Kingston on a reccy trip last Autumn. We really liked Barrie it was our favourite place, it had a nice feel about it. It's based around lake Simcoe and has a lovely little beach and Marina which i imagine in the summer is wonderful. even on a cold october day it was very pleasent, and the people were friendly. We went to Kingstn on one legg of our journey and have to say we didn't like it. Maybe we entered it via the wrong motorway exit but what we saw was like grottsville, looked quite run down and overcrowded and shoddy and it didn't seem to get much better. Maybe it was just first impressions but we never stayed there, we drove through it and stayed at Gananoque(sp?).A very pretty little town, but just a stopover for tourists i think as it was full of hotels. We going to look at Calgary and poss Vancouver next easter in the hope that we will make up our minds on where to settle.
Hth Jo xx
