Default New Baby

Hi All,

We applied for PR for 2 people back in Aug 2007 and we expect the letter from CIC in about Sep Oct time but when Aug gets here there will now be 3 of us going.

Firstly will this incur an extra processing fee for the baby?

Secondly if so how do I inform CIC of the new addition and part with the cash

Thirdly what do I do about a baby passport as the child will only be about 6 months when we get the PR so do babys still go on their parents passport or do they need to have their own

Can you tell this is the first?

Thanks all

Hi.
We had our 90 day letter recently (Feb 07 applic).
It states:
'Provide copies of all birth, adoption, marriage and divorce statements for yourself and your dependents, whether accompanying or not. If you are adding a new family member to your application, you must also send the processing fee for them. You must also submit two recent photographs of yourself and each of your dependents.'
Babies have their own passports now, which last for 5 years instead of the usual 10.
So, don't worry too much, there will be an opportunity to update on your family members when you update all the rest of your information.
Hope that helps.

You can no longer have a child added to your passport, they all need their own regardless of their age. My daughter had hers at 4 months old before we took her skiing - she's now 4 and a half and funnily enough, bears absolutely no resemblance to the photo in her passport!

Hi Pete

We were in the same situation. When we received our 90 day letter we just added our baby's name onto the application and paid another $150. And as Christmasoompa said you will have to get a passport for your baby. We had ours done when he was 5 days old and looks nothing at all like he does now at 6 months old!!! Cost of that is about £50 i think. also your baby will need to have a medical which is a basic check over- no blood tests or urine samples.

any questions, please ask me

Slightly off-topic, but a word of warning about the baby passport... Although they're valid for five years, we got held up at passport control when we were in Toronto a couple months back because the passport control guy wasn't happy with our 2 1/2 year olds baby photo in her passport (taken at about five months). As mentioned above, it now looks nothing like her. We're used to passport control asking the kids one or two questions to make sure they're actually ours, but this guy practically interviewed the two of them on the spot - and finished up by telling us we needed to get a new passport.... So we are

These things appear to be more likely to get taken to extremes in Canada, compared to any other developed nation.
