Default need to come over to edmonton in May?Need help with flights!!! Please

Its finally all starting, Neil has got his dates for doing the exams for Edmonton Police.

Which means we need to be in Edmonton around the 15th May (week before his one week of exams, needs to settle in for a week), and want to stay till around the 5th June. We are quite flexible on the arrival and leaving date as long as we are there between the 18th May and 1st June....

So now its all go go go!!! Ahhhh... need to book some flights soon so we can both book our holiday with work....

I really would appreciate some advice on flights, cheapest is best and are willing to compromise on comfort! Lol....

Is this a good time to come over? Whats the weather like at that time?

Thanks!

xx

We went last october with Canadian Affair although they don't fly to Edmonton in the winter we flew to Calgary and drove up to Edmonton. They have a sale at the mo and i think they had dates in May, and to Edmonton too, as it is summer.

Good luck with the exams.

Hi

Was going to suggest Canadian Affair but have just checked their website and it appears they don't start their direct flights from Gatwick to Edmonton until 26/05/09

sure there will be some other good deals out there, you have some time to look, hope you have a great trip, good luck

That's a bummer!

Like i said before though, we had trouble finding inexpensive flights to Edmonton which is why we flew to Calgary and drove up. It was dead easy and we are not usually that daring!

we enjoyed doing that and it added to the adventure!

About 3 hours - it's a dead straight (dead boring) road and you can't go wrong. Definitely worth considering flying in to Calgary if the flights are available and/or cheaper. Just make sure you get a decent map of Edmonton city centre before you arrive on the city limits. So buy one prior to arriving or get one at the petrol station en route (and maybe even a map for Calgary too if you are spending any time there - although from the airport onto Highway 2 to go to Edmonton is fairly easy and should be well sign posted).

Good luck with the tests.

If you have Google Earth just get the directions from Calgary to Edmonton then fly the route on the map.

Yeah - but I'm one of those old-fashioned sorts that likes a real-life map on my knee And if they are going to be there for several weeks, doing recces and interviews - then a map is necessary

I was referring to using as a 3D look at the road, terrain and scenery you'd drive through .

Yes, it took us about 3 hours. It is a long boring road but as it was our first time driving it we enjoyed it. We flew with Canadian Affair and hired our car with them too from Hertz. We also had a sat nav which we found indispensible. The girl on the Hertz desk was very helpful and even came out and programmed the sat nav to our hotel in Edmonton for us. Like i said before, we are not normally very brave with things like this but we found it a doddle!
