NCA Law conversion exams

Hi there. I am required to sit the 4 core Canadian modules for my solicitor conversion to become a lawyer in Canada but am having problems trying to get hold of the books. Does anybody have any tips or any books they would like to sell??? Any exam tips would be great too for those of you have already been through the conversion!

Thank you.

Carswell Carswell or Irwin Law Irwin Law should be able to provide any books you require.

Have you been through the programme? If so, how did you find it? I note you're in Calgary which is where I'm hoping to be soon...well Okotoks!!

Yes. I went through the process in 2007/2008 and was called to the Alberta Bar in 2009, setting up my own practice in 2010. I now live on an acreage not far from Okotoks.

As I am sure you know, there are not too many firms in Okotoks. What type of law are you looking to practice?

I currently work in-house as a lead commercial and contracts solicitor but I have quite a broaf background including litigation which I still dabble in. Could I send you my CV to look at. I don't suppose you're looking for anybody? I'm visiting in a few months would be great to meet if you could spare the time. Any tips would be much appreciated!!

There are lots of commercial lawyers in Calgary, but they will be based downtown. Not much of such work in Okotoks. Travel from Okotoks to Calgary will mean having to leave home very early (if using the C-Train as the parking lot is full by 6:15 a.m. - 400 person waiting list for reserved parking) and driving downtown will become very tiresome very quickly). Food for thought.

Hi yes, my parents both work in Calgary so I know about the travel. I travel fir work now so I'm sure I'd manage. In many ways I'm lucky as I have quite a bit of experience behind me so am not stucknpurely with commercial. I have prosecuted and conducted civil lit, employment and property. What area do you practice in there?
