Nationwide bank account in Canada

Nationwide bank account in Canada
I know from previous threads that keeping an existing UK bank account open and running when you move to Canada is possible, but the policy seems to vary from one bank to another.
We already have a Nationwide bank account and very much want to keep it open. I can change our address to that of my mother-in-law who is in the UK, or I can change it to our Canadian address. I am just worried that if I change it to our Canadian address, they may be unhappy and close the account. Anyone else here have a Nationwide account with your Canadian address registered with them??

My kids both have savings accounts with them, with a passbook. Advised Nationwide of Canadian address after consulting them, but leave the books with my sister in the UK.
No problems - in fact my daughter who now resides back there has properly reactivated her account, as opposed to paying in a small amount from time to time, and changed it to online access.

They mail to me in Canada but I have a mortgage with them still so they can't really shut my accounts down anyway. I'm not wanting to change the address on my other accounts which I really still need because in branch they give very vague answers on whether they'll be closed, usually along the lines of "technically they will be but it may well not happen", which isn't good enough for me so I have to use a trusted friend's address in UK.

Interesting to hear others actual experiences seem to differ from Nationwides official policy . I directly messaged Nationwide with Hurlabricks question ahead of our move next spring, via their online messaging service and was advised I would need to keep a uk address. I only have current and savings accounts with them, no loans or mortgage.

We still have our account and credit card open. They had no problem with our address being in Canada. We keep our rental / mortgage payments going through the account and use the credit card a few times a year to keep them interested. That being said, their systems do arbitrarily bang on the security block to the credit card, which necessitates an e-mail to remove it. No way to stop this, even with the address correctly recorded. Very good organisation to bank with.

I've moved to the UK, and kept my Nationwide account open. I use it to pay some things I have running in the UK still. I also am paid my by UK employer into my Nationwide account and just run a monthly transfer to my Canadian RBC account. I can't see any issues with it, I checked with the bank before moving and they said it would be fine, long-term. I'm really pleased.
