National Insurance Contributions
Any advise would be appreciated.
After leaving the Uk do most ppl continue to pay national insurance contributions? If so which class?
I understand Canada (since april 2010) has a "Bilateral Social Security Agreement" in force with the UK. Does anyone know what that means?
Thanks

Re: National Insurance Contributions
We don't, for two reasons. We have no intention of living in the UK agaian and what is a state pension really going to be worth in 30/40 years?

I pay contributions it is only £12 per week. However I only have 4 years to pay till my 30 are paid up.I suppose it depends on how long you have left till retirement and how many years you have already paid.

Hi
To maintain any UK entitlement you are required to pay 52 weeks of class one contributions, following that you sill then drop onto class three contributions (I think) which is much lower.

Chances are the contributions you paid in the year you land will cover the minimum required for that year. Then you can start paying class 3 contributions from April of the following year until you reach 30 years of contributions. At that point you have to contact HMRC and ask for a letter confirming your years of contributions.you do not have to pay 30 years to get a pension only for the maximum pension.
