Default Names in Quebec

I heard that it is illegal for a married woman to take her husbands surname in Quebec. What happens for immigrants who move into Quebec?

It's not illegal it's just not being done. When you get married in Quebec, if you want your husband surname you can have it by deed poll. This is only since 1980. So there is still a big portion of married women that have their husband's name. Your name is your own, they won't have you change it back. On the card for the health services, I believe they will use your maiden name. But that should be it!!!
