My PR application-Buffalo

Hi everybody, just to give a case example, here is my Canadian residency journey...

April 24, 01 - Sent out the application to CPC at Buffalo
July 5 - Received the acknowledgement of receipt from Buffalo

...after a long waiting period and being agitated with the rumours of new policy and lenghtening processing times, received the first correspondence after AOR...

December 4 -Replication of the proof of funds document and up to date employment paperwork(still couldn't get why they wanted the same documents submitted again!) Also learnt that the interview was waived, a cushion at the back! Maybe they were overloaded at that time or I slipped through, still don't know....

February 25, 2002 - The medical forms arrived along with these instructions. Took the meds in one week. Be careful when you shop around for the med. exams., because the prices and the "content of the service" differ a lot. For example you might want to consider getting all blood, urine, etc. tests and X-rays at the same location, in lieu of at two remote facilities. This is exatly what happened to me, so watch out. Also ask whether they charge for X-ray extra, might be surprised with double marginalization...

Also the criminal record(finger printing etc.) was completed and sent out to Ottowa. When appling for PR, you don't have to pay for the finger-print screening in Ottowa, but you do pay at the agency where you get them taken. At last, started to wait for the good news, which I gathered from prev. messages that it could take 3 months.

May 10, 2002 - Finally got the papers and waiting for the end-of-story: Awaiting to land at the port of entry...

Best of luck with the expectants and other folks planning to apply...
