Default Mums in Toronto

Hi, I have just moved to Toronto from England 2 weeks ago. I have a 1 year old and am feeling a bit lost! I wondered if anyone had any tips, or wanted to meet for coffee? Thanks!

I understand feeling lost from 3 years ago when I came. Its a big city and overwhelming. Where abouts are you? I'm not a mum but work with children so may be able to help a little!

Then why does it matter where the OP is in Toronto?

Dear fairykatie,

How are you settled now? I will be moving to Toronto in mid July with a 2.5 yr old son, and soon to be born baby girl (due a couple of days ago!). The whole prospect is entirely overwhelming...did you find any other britishexpat members helpful? Would love to hear some tips and tricks about settling in. I am totally unprepared for the move, albeit a temporary stay for 1 year. I'm from London and will be on mat leave whilst my husband works at Suunybrook Hospital. What's your set up?

Hi, have you heard of Toronto Newcomers Club? Very active group of women of all ages, with kids of all ages. Members have moved to Toronto from all over the world (lots of us from the UK). You will get loads of support and make loads of friends! They have daytime and evening activities.

Thanks hobingfoot, I will look into that when I arrive!

I see the link to the website has been taken off as it was seen as advertising - just to add, we are a non-profit group, here to support each other as newcomers to the city and there is no commercial gain involved.

It doesn't matter whether you're for profit or not - site rule 9 is pretty clear and you cannot direct people to your service or website (or even a Facebook group) in your posts.

Hope that clarifies why the info was removed, thx.

Fairykatie hasn't been on the forum since Jan, so is unlikely to see your response I'm afraid.

As this thread is several months old and the OP hasn't been back to the forum since posting it, I'll close this thread - feel free to start one of your own to arrange a meet up with other mums.

Good luck.
