Default Mr. Miller: Updated FBI clearance.

I was asked for an updated FBI police clearance on July 24, 2002, I sent the updated clearance on August 24, 2002, and the delivery confirmation shows that they were delivered to Buffalo on August 26, 2002. I sent to ask about the status of my application last week, and today I received the answer. They say, they are still waiting for the updated FBI clearance. It has been more than 5 weeks since i sent them the update clearance, and from the delivery confirmation it is clear that it was delivered. Please tell me what to do in this case?. I am confused, and can not believe that i will lose two month because of that.

Thanks

Did you include your file number and copy of the letter you received from
Buffalo with the certificate? If yes then fax them delivery confirmation -
they'll find it.

Mr. Miller,
I didn't send a copy of the letter, but i sent them my file number, date of birth, full name, my address, and a brief message stating that i am sending this updated FBI clearance upon your request.

Do you think if i fax them a copy of the delivery confirmation, they might find it?, if yes, this means they should still have the original envelop which has the other part of the delivery confirmation, do you think they just keep everything even the envelop?.

Thanks

When request was sent to you a new bring forward date was entered into the
CAIPS file and with current backlog of pending applications it is very rare
that your file will be looked at prior to that date, regardless receipt of
requested documents. Even the fact of receipt of FBI certificate may not even
be entered into CAIPS before BF date. When you have sent a status request then
someone just looked at CAIPS (not updated) and you received the reply you just
mentioned. Send a fax with the copy of the delivery confirmation and hope that
someone will move things forward, but unfortunately this is how system works
when visa posts are overloaded with unprecedented number of applications and
overwhelming number of status requests...

Mr. Miller;
Thanks alot for your answer. I just want to ask you based on your knowledge and experience, what could be the "bring forward date" in my case if they sent me to ask for the updated clearance on July 22, 2002(from Buffalo). I ask this question because it was 5 weeks after i sent them the updated clearance when they replied back saying we are still waiting for the updated clearance.

Thanks so much for your help.

I don't know - processing officer enters new bring forward date into the CAIPS
file and without seeing such nobody can tell you what the bf date is. But
usually when request is sent for additional documents then officer gives at
least 60 or 90 days for such request to be fulfilled and then ads another 30 or
60 days to set next bf date.
