Not relevant for Kelowna or the Okanagan as a whole .... especially right now, as half of the valley is burning due to a very long dry summer with temps between 30-38c and very little rain (could count rainfall hours on one hand since early May!!!)

Kind Regards.

He's working for a great, family run business and they have really welcomed us. We are living at Quail Ridge at the moment so a little far out for now but at the end of September we move down to Playa De Sol which is much closer to my husbands work and my college.
Kelowna is so beautiful in the summer and we look forward to enjoying life as the journey getting here, even as a student has been a long, expensive one! But absolutely worth it!

Kelowna is so beautiful in the summer...
Clearly can't deny that observation, apart from comparing the last 48hrs, where it's "pea soup" in the valley, as smoke from the wildfire in Washington rolled north into Kelowna on Saturday night at sunset.

The sun is up there someplace, although more of a red/orange ball behind the wall of smoke.

Kind Regards.

On a scale of 1 to 10, the air quality in Kelowna is apparently 14 today

Clearer just up the valley today - worst it has been since 2003 but still plenty of people having fun on the lakes- you will love Kelowna and the Okanagan Beckie and Morgan- just ignore the grumpy ol' men!

It looked like it was lifting a little in Kelowna around 6pm, but a slight breeze is kicking up tonight and the smoke appears thicker again. Whether the breeze is drafting old smoke towards us or the intensity of the Washington wildfire is increasing, well, the bottom line is, we are currently living in a giant outdoor cigar testing factory!

Kind Regards.

To provide a comparison here in Kelowna .... the first photo displays a cloudy sky over Kelowna on a summer night. The second from a similar viewpoint, displaying our current Washington smoke filled sky from a couple of hours ago tonight.

.. as Jim Royle would lament .... "Cccoooorrrrrrrrrrect Dave!!!"

Only kiddin' Stinkypup

Kind Regards.

Yes indeed Stinkypup!!

My wife was talking to "mother-in-law" in Penticton an hour before it rolled into Kelowna on Saturday night. At the time, Penticton was covered in a blanket of smoke, while we were still witnessing blue skies ... so you can imagine the disbelief in sharing comparisons over the phone eh?

Kind Regards.

Waking up on Saturday to it was a tad worrying- thankfully 400km away but massive fire in Washington and could easily happen here

I love your correction blaming me... again MY ARSE!!

Maybe it was your MIL in the UFO though normally brooms are the more traditional means of transport...

Exactly! ... and of course, we all think back to Okanagan Mountain Park Wildfire in 2003 (or firestorm as it was officially known). Stressful times and eerie skies both in the morning and at nightfall.

Correction? ... Blaming You??? ... "Can't do right for doing BLEEP! wrong here!!!"

Kind Regards.
