Default Moving to Wetaskiwin

Hi,
I am hoping someone can give me some advice on Wetaskiwin?
I have been offered a job there but am wondering wether it would be a good area to also live/ rent?
Is it a good area? (in terms of facilities / leisure etc) if not what surrounding areas would be suitable for my husband and I to live? (would there be job opportunities for my husband?)

Any help / advice would be much appreciated

A little clue on your Husband's profession may help the people who can offer you advice.

My husband is a firefighter in britain at the moment. And as there can be a long selection process to get into this he is willing to work in other areas of employment.

I notice you're from Glasgow. If you like/prefer large city living then Wetaskiwin wouldn't be for you. Given its proximity to Edmonton I suspect many residents go there for recreation/shopping. If you think you'll appreciate small town/large village living then it will probably suit you well.

Yeah we aren also considering looking to rent in Edmonton, though we weren't sure if the commute to work for myself would be too much.. And not knowing the roads, if would it be difficult to travel in the winter etc?

It would be quite a long commute (40+km) and given the Edmonton winters it could be somewhat daunting.

HiJessica,
Have a look at Leduc as we are probably about 20-25 km to Wetaskiwin, We found Leduc has everything you need and is all so a nice place to live, Nisku is a big industral town ( only way I can discribe it) I'm sure you husband could find something there, they have their own fire service there and there is also the airport fire service, I know leduc fire service were recruiting not long back.
Hope i have given you something useful but any questions or more info needed just give us a shout

Hi crg2704, thanks for your reply.

My husband and i are coming over in july for two weeks (flying into Calgary and making our way upto Edmonton) so are hoping to stay in Leduc. It is a holiday but also a recce mision!
Thats good news about the Fire service as my husband could find out about continuing his career.
Could you recommend any reputable estate/ letting agents we could contact?, as we would be looking to rent initially when we come over. Any areas in Leduc you would recommend we should take a look at?
Thanks
