Moving to Vancouver

Hi,

We are moving to North Vancouver (have just received our work permits). Could anyone offer advice on:

1. Taking money over with you (I'm not talking huge amounts but some savings).
2. Temporary health insurance
3. Short term accommodation/recommended hotel/motel/bed and breakfast in North Vancouver

Any practical advice would be a great help.

thanks,

Kate

Clare or someone else from the Vancouver gang may respond to your accommodation question soon, but if they don't you also can catch up to them at:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Brits2Vancouver/

That forum has a really impressive amount of information about Vancouver and even about the rest of British Columbia.

Hi Kate,
You could look into www.van.net/classified
Click on category on the left, then rentals and then North Van apt/condo
If you want a house you would have to browse thro' the ad. for the
whole of Van. including West and North Van .
Also you look into the North Shore News www.nsnews.com to read
about the local news.Hope that helps.
Good luck,
Yoong

There is a reasonable priced B&B - The Northgate Park House B&B
1226 Silverwood Cresent ,North Van. You could book thro www.Trav.com
or with any international hostel agencies. Depending on your budget,
North Van has some pricey B&Bs . Good luck,

That's right it is cheap and clean if you work in Vancouver. My cousin stayed
there last spring .Also is near the Sky train station and China town.
It will can be a lengthy commute by sea bus or cross the Lions Gate Bridge
to get to North Van.
