Moving to Manitoba in Canada

Hi there, I would like some advise now on what steps to take for my family and I to settle in Winnipeg Manitoba. My family and I applied for our Permanent Residency and although this has taken a long time to process, we have now received correspondence from CIC in London that our application is processed and all we need now is to submit photos and bio data of our passports for issuance of our PRC.

We have been waiting on this for ages but now it has finally 'happened' I am particularly apprehensive and confused about what to do first and steps to take for a smooth relocation. I have been made aware that I have to undergo a bridging programme to close the gap in my nursing (mental health nursing) which I obtained here in the Uk, I am prepared for this but I just feel 'funny' al of a sudden. Now, how do I go about getting schools for my 14&16 year old, bearing in mind my 16 year old has only just finished his O level GCE.

Any advise will do and I am more than happy to answer your questions.

Joa1,

Have you decided what the kids want to do?
Winnipeg has several options when you consider a 16 year old requirements.

From studying to be Scientist to Car/Airplane Mechanic to Sports professional or to just don't know. Example handbook from a school http://www.lrsd.net/Schools/GCI/Atta...20Handbook.pdf

Winnipeg has different school divisions Winnipeg School Divisions Map

With different resources and different options. Each one of the School divisions will list their 9-12 schools. Most if not all will have Immigrant Settlement Services or Newcomers contact information.
They both can go to the same school grade 9 for 14 and grade 11 for 16. If you can prove qualifying levels kids can be advanced - ( had 2 graduate grade 12 at 16 so know its possible).
Basically when deciding where to live factor in the School options and then your Workplace.

Grade 11 & 12 will be required for uni/ College / work and as the place is full of 16 -18 as well as 14& 15 it is not like uk schools.
