AirBnB will be your best bet for short-term accommodation with kitchen facilities. You'll also be able to find hotels with kitchenettes (e.g. the Homewood Suites by Hilton), but I imagine those will be a fair bit more pricey.
Enjoy Halifax!

Hello and welcome to BE!
I'd suggest you have a good look at our renting section in Wiki - lots of helpful information about renting and where to look for rentals... about deposits etc., do have a good read as it's very different to the UK. For example, you won't find 'rental agencies' as such.
Congrats on gaining PR!! Exciting times ahead ... we've got some helpful info about the move over too - your 'goods to follow lists'; things to do before you leave - and when you first arrive... get yourself a cuppa and dig in

For long-term rentals, it really depends on what you're looking for.
If you're looking for a house, you'll have the most luck looking on Kijiji, which is the Canadian equivalent of Gumtree: https://www.kijiji.ca/b-real-estate/halifax/c34l80010
If you're looking for an apartment, there are lots of apartment buildings on the peninsula and further afield, which are entirely rented out by Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs). Some of the bigger ones in HRM (Halifax Regional Municipality) include:
Killam - https://killamreit.com/
Southwest - https://southwest.ca/
CAPREIT - https://www.caprent.com/
If you're looking to buy, the most comprehensive real estate listings website by far in Nova Scotia is ViewPoint: https://www.viewpoint.ca/map. You'll need to create a free account to access all of it's functionality, but the site allows you to see historical selling prices for properties among other useful things. It's much more functional than Realtor.ca, although both pull in listings from the same data source (MLS).
I hope that helps!

Welcome to Halifax. A few comments on renting.
I have used Killam and Southwest and have had a generally good experience with both.
Killam do tend to get slaughtered in reviews but I think it must be down to the building manager. We have a great price on our place and it went up by 0.25% this year.
We have just put my mother in law into a Hannias building and, if they allowed pets, I would endeavour to get into one of those places.

Great information if anyone is looking for long term apartment rental, thanks!
Do bear in mind that the OP is looking for TEMPORARY rental accommodation just for the first couple of weeks though...
