Calgary sucks for Brit-expats
UNLESS you're prepared to wear plaid, cowboy hats and spurs:thumbup:

Marmite can be difficult, but not impossible, to find. There are no Walkers crisps. Very few decent curry houses and I haven't found a fish & chip shop worth writing home about yet. Chicken is expensive and you will think that all banks rip you off.:sneaky::p

Now we have most Brit ex-pats' concerns out of the way, there is no better place to live, in my very biased opinion. I am sure you will love it.

Hi,

Calgary and surrounds - great - despite the drawbacks quite correctly highlighted by the previous posters!

As for the foot stuff, a couple of quick Google searches brought up the following...maybe not quite what you are looking for but might give you a head-start on research.

http://www.podiatrycanada.org/faqs.html
http://www.albertapodiatry.com/lic_requ.html
http://www.footdoctors.ca/doctors/ab...y.html#Calgary

Hope these are of some use. Good luck.

Eamonn & Janet.

Hi Keelo,

Welcome to the forum. I can't really answer your questions, I'm in Calgary but I've only been here a month so not really qualified to comment - but for what it's worth, so far I really like it - much, I'm sure though, depends on your lifestyle, what you're looking for and where in the city you live.

I have found marmite with no problem (Canadian Superstore) and I think most things you can't get have a reasonable substitute - If you can't make gravy without Bisto there's always maple syrup :D

If you have a look on the Maple Leaf there's a thread 'Who's up for drikies and hellos in Calgary' (or something like that). In post #6 of that thread Judy gives some good tips to someone asking about Calgary.

Hope this helps.
