Well, it's suddenly getting very expensive due to people moving in from Alberta with cash from selling their houses. Not quite Alberta levels of prices, but probably close relative to incomes.

We are going to Indian Head but I only hear good reports of Saskatoon and its surrounding areas.

Hey - have you managed to rent a place in Indian Head? It's a really pretty place. My friends left for Ireland tonight at 5 - he says he is going to give you a call! Actually, they fly to Toronto tonight and stay there overnight and then fly direct to Dublin tomorrow.

Pretty Town, flat, you can see hundreds of miles in either direction, come Winter, dry cold be damned, it is cold.

People you will find to be very friendly, laid back, housing is CHEAP by comparable standards, SOCIALISTS to the core.

Concern is that within 20 years Aboriginal population will be majority, Farmers will not be able to find workers.

Kieffer Sutherland is from Sk.

Learn to play Hockey and learn to Curl.

I'm not a socialist!!

I think people are sick of the NDP government and they may get kicked out next time.

You are right about the cold. When I first came here I did not find it cold because its not a damp cold. But as time goes by and you get used to it - yes its cold!

I think it depends on your age. It never bothered me when my kids were young. They went skating outside and toboganning or sledding etc. (and no - its NOT called sledging -- a sledge is a great bit hammer over here) and I took the dogs for a walk in the snow. However, I have to admit the older I get the more I dislike it. However, you'll have a good few years of fun outside before you get to the age I got to before I started disliking it!!

I think it has a lot to do with the snow. When a person gets older, their bones get more brittle and the snow gets packed down and slippery and I am worried about breaking something valuable like my arm or leg!!

i particularly loved the downtown area...along the river...lots of older style and interesting architecture..and the museum to visit etc......when i was there it was lovely and green and a very relaxing place to just ~be.

people were freindly and dont' be fooled into thinking it is a small country place..it isn't...yet it has that kind of feel to it......have a great time....report back how it went..will be looking to hearing about it....

Hmm. It wasn't a bad winter here. We had hardly any really cold weather - and I mean by that 35 below. A few years ago we had a long spell of 40 below - now that really does get you down.

It was a couple of years ago, it's hardly CHEAP today. Cheaper than Alberta, but that's not saying a lot.

markG, $300,000 will buy you a 700 sq ft Condo in Toronto, in Saskatoon, you can buy a house for less.

My 1400 sq ft 60 year old home in Leaside just sold for $800,000, 30x120 ft lot, they are putting on a $300,000 addition.

And? There are far more opportunities to earn a lot of money in Toronto than in Saskatoon, and many places in Canada where $300,000 will buy you a much better house than you'll get for that in Saskatoon these days. That's like comparing a flat in Kensington to a terraced house in Salisbury.

Personally I don't understand how a couple who work in average jobs in Saskatoon are supposed to afford a house at current prices; whereas even two years ago they wouldn't have had a problem.
