I used to pay about $ 200 a month with Rogers, which unfortunately took over Sprint who I totally supported originally because they were the first competition to the local phone companies here in Canada, but Rogers do not do the deals all over the country as Primus do and they are not as cheap, as can be seen on the comparison list on the Primus site. Payments can be made on their website or obviously the normal payment systems through direct debits /automatic credit card payments / banks on line so not sure why people would be late. I used to call my parents once a week back in the early 80s and that bill would be between $100 -$200 a month then, a huge amount for that time. Now I can call every one every day for only $20 a month:) And older relatives need that from me. It is the cheapest, believe me, and I hope your friends sort out their bill payments and don't have the stress of disconnections again:) |

I am just thinking ahead about when we get there. I do not do texting unless it is really necessary as i am all fingers and thumbs but my OH will want to stay in touch with her sister and looking at previous threads it seems Virgin PAYG seems the best option for cost and hassle. |
Re: Moved: Rogers or Bell Canada?
We have had nothing but problems will Bell since moving here. First they were the only utility etc to demand an upfront deposit before they would even talk to us ($200) refundable after a year (hopefully). The staff were rude and didn't seem to know anything about what they were selling.
Since having the service we have tried on three occasions to set up a pre-payment. The first time in November, but it never got set up. I then tried again in January but a couple of bills later it was apparent that once again it had not been set up. I then set up another one this time through my credit card and not my bank a/c as they said it could be done over the phone (the ones through the bank a/c need crossed cheques to be posted to them). This time I was assured that it had been set up. Two months later I received a demand for payment saying they were going to cut us off it the bill wasn't paid. I phoned them and they apologized and said they did have the pre-payment and to ignore the letter. Trouble was a few weeks later I got a phone call from them telling me we would be cut off if we did not pay! This time the woman went through my records found the pre-payment and gave me a reference number for payment and said the pre-payment would be used from now on. This month they took two identical payments from my credit card on the same day. I phoned to ask why and to get one of the payments credited back. But, apparently they cannot credit back to the card, they have to send me a cheque which will take about two weeks. So, the moral of this story is......leave Bell well alone!! |
