Re: Moved: help with converting cv to canadian requirements
personally I used Monster.CA for CV & job recruitment tips back when I was a disgruntled (ok no, just wanted a higher wage *lol*) Canadian employee. The other I used to courge for job adverts was Workopolis.ca ... this may or may not be any help to you but just thought I'd throw in my input... oh and just remembered, aside from provincial job bank websites (yes they are out there, just google search them!) I also used to use Totaljobs.ca, they also had a pretty easy to use job bank/cv building website.
One thing you DONT want to get sucked into (which I have been!) do NOT go out of your way to meet/greet recruiting agencies unless they have a very promising job offer/ potential job offer. In the past I have been too nice in giving these recruiters my time & money in meeting/speaking to them with very little results... if it seems a bit off to you, trust your gut and tell them to eff off (in a nice way) *lol* Dont go out of your way money or time wise unless they have something substantial to offer you!!!! :) |

Not clear on one thing daedra: Recruiters (headhunters, fleshpeddlers, call them what you want) work for the client who pays then. It costs the candidate nothing. so how does money get wasted? I can see where one can waste time, I have done it often myself, with no tangible results. But then again, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
So what am I missing here? Don't get me started on them, only 1 or 2 agencies even put anything that met my requested criteria to me after meeting them. They certainly didn't work for the candidates much more then calling to ask if some other recruiter had managed to actually get you an interview or *gasp* job :curse:.... not a fan of them now as you can tell  |
Re: Moved: help with converting cv to canadian requirements
Daedra, I absolutely agree with you. Recruitment agencies are a waste of time. Every time I have been to them, you give them your criteria of the job, location, wage that you are looking for and they call you with something totally different. Very frustrating and a total waste of time. :curse:
I know it's not just me either, but lots of people I know have had similar experiences. At the end of the day they just want their commission, which is understandable but irritating. Beware of them. |
Re: Moved: help with converting cv to canadian requirements
On the topic of recruiters I have just started a new thread. it is a topic unto itself.
