Does anyone know/have any experience in finding an apartment for rent in the Vancouver area?

Hiya Fred we're moving to North Vancouver at the beginning of Sept and have used suitedeals.com as they are fully furnished so you can move straight into them and they're internet ready which we need as my partner will have to start working as soon as we get there. Plus you can rent them on a monthy basis which we wanted.

Another site we almost booked through was makeyourselfathome.com - again fully furnished and ready to move straight into and rented on a weekly or monthy basis.

Are you looking for furnished or Unfurnished?

Also I know quite a few people have used bruceward.com.

Then there's also http://vancouver.craigslist.org or mls.com.

I have tonnes of websites of rentals companies, If you need anymore just let me know.

Fred, in addition to the information MissSmellyShoes has given you, you may find it useful to read the Wiki article on renting in Canada. It's generic and not specific to Vancouver, but still may have a coupole of useful tips.
