Moved - Bizarre Question....
Hi all,
Could someone please tell who the big milk, cheese and yogurt companies in Canada are? I'm after the equivalent of Dairy Crest, St Ivel, Muller etc. Many thanks Charlie |
Re: Moved - Bizarre Question....
Kraft is huge and covers a massive amount of products http://www.kraftcanada.com/en/ProductsPromotions/

Charlie Agropur markets something called Natrel which I don't think can be legally milk as it's labelled something like "natural dairy beverage". I suppose it's a chemical substitute for milk. Anyway, it's widely available so I suppose Agropur might be a big player. Parmalat is another, Lactantia is one of their brands. |

Armstrong is a cheese brand - don't know if it's the company though haven't got the label and my milk is dairyland if that helps!

Parmalat and Kraft are probably the biggest? |
Re: Moved - Bizarre Question....
The Canadian Company Capabilities website may help. You can sort companies by sector, by province, by number of employees, and by other criteria.

Re: Moved - Bizarre Question....
It also depends where you shop and what part of the country you are in. With milk for example if you are in Ontario you will either buy Neilson which is owned by Loblaws so will be present in all Loblaws owned stores (i.e. loblaws, no frills, fortinos, real canadian superstore etc.) or you will buy Natrel or possibily Parmalat Sealtest. Saputo makes a line of milk called Dairyland which is very big out west but not well known in Ontatio although Walmart and Shoppers Drug Mart sell it as well as where I work. If youw ant Organic milk in Ontatio you will probably buy Organic Meadow or Harmony.
