Motoring Organisations
 

Has anyone got any experience of subscribing to a motoring breakdown service in Canada? I understand there's the CAA, has anyone used them? Any other recommendations? I always belonged to a breakdown service in the UK and I think that I'd enjoy the reassurance of belonging to one here.

Hi

I've been a member for about 25 years, its a great investment for about $65 a year. Lock your keys in the car, flat battery, car needs a tow, no cost.

Hi,
We agree with PMM we had CAA for the 2 yrs we lived out in Alberta ( Immigration paperwork in and waiting to return) Once we sort a vehicle/Insurance and alikes we will most definately get CAA

To give you another hint on how helpful they are, we went on a road trip from Medicine hat - Grand Canyon and back. CAA gave us a complete booklet Map detailing everything we needrd for the trip. Including where we were to stay (Accom booked) points of interest, road works, tolls and much more. Much better than any Auto route ive come across! All this and it was for Free! If i remember you are limited to how may you could have in a year, but still it was a very good service. We were even given an Emergency phone because my wife did alot of driving.

Oh yes and we got massive discount on entry to Disney and all the other attractions because we were members.

I can only speak highly of CAA get membership !!

it may be a stupid question, but is CAA in every province? We are going to NS, so wondering what they had there.

Yes it is all province (to my knowledge). Alberta has the AMA too Alberta motoring Association i believe they are all linked. Well worth the Dollars though

We are still in the UK and are members of the British AA. When we go on our hols to Canada, we usually pop in to the local CAA branch and they are very pleased to see us (there is some sort of limited reciprocal arrangement between the two) - we get discount off Hertz car hire and they go out of their way to provide us with map books, tour guides and help us to plot our route. We can also get discounts on accommodation and ski life tickets too!
