I think the real answer is that lots of rich people want to live in these places, see also the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. This is a problem for people who want to live there who are not rich.

Likely none of them. None are in BC which is where we are tied to because of the disability concern and coverage.

The eastern provinces just don't provide the same level of disabled supports that BC does.

As we are on provincial disability, it's obviously not something that moves with you, and every province has varying degrees of assistance and supports.

I don't know about Hong Kong, but Sydney and Vancouver were 'discovered' by sea faring Brits. Vancouver named after a Brit? How about all three were once owned by Britain but relinquished without a revolution?

People have been living here since the end of the last Ice Age (presumably why you have ' and ' around discovered) but the first European was Spanish Captain José María Narváez in 1791. A year before Captain George Vancouver showed up.

I didn't know that, thanks. I guess Vancouver was easier to pronounce than Narvaez...

According to that article I live in a less affordable city which scores the same as one in the affordable dozen

Im a salaried employee so I get paid the same wherever I would work in Canada.
Granted if I chose to live in Yellowknife there are allowances that would boost my income but would I be any better off?

Canadian government doesn't do cost of living premiums for high cost of living regions?

The military does. The allowance for people posted to the GTA is pushing $1,500 a month.
