Re: Mosquitos!!!!!

well went in the yard and had 6-7 straight away land on my arm. spent 5 minutes swatting, so ok the bugs are there.

Came in put 2 cloves in about 100ml of cisco cooking oil ( only kind I had ) added about the same in water and whisked it up in one of the small counter top processors ( like a magic bullet for you infomerical watchers). turned into a milky white liquid. took it outside dab on the wrists ankles.

First off a few came start in and landed but flew off. 2 hours later and I hadn't squatted one. I'm weeding, cutting long grass in the shade and sitting drinking the water on the steps and no bugs.

down side kids say phew what stinls and 8 hours later when I collect my wife from work she says the same.

Not going to be able to confirm missing bugs tomorror as they are fogging here over night so there wont be a thing flying around for 7-10 days.

But tomorrow will be going up the dog park and they don't fog there. So will keep you informed.

Ps don't just believe me check out

Gonna have to find out why no one told me about it.

Thank you for the Mosquito barrier link. We take possession of our acreage in August and have been wondering about the critters - we have a nice 40 x 60 dugout of water on the property. Your link may help in finding something to get control.

Interesting about the Garlic. FWIW my boss remembers that they used to spray a thin film of oil on ponds for the same reason, its the oil that works, not the garlic for the mosquito barrier on standing water...but its not particulaly environmentaly friendly, which is why they stopped. Then again, can it be worse than fogging?

And have you be less desirable to the mosquitos? Yeah right! The best prevention from not getting attacked by skeetos is to have some more attractive 'fresh meat' around :D.
