we are putting 20% down and will have the first 4 years paymens in the bank, how good are theyat this, hsbc international in london said there shouldn´t be a problem but what are other peoples experiences. |
You should have no problem, providing you have a job. They may however require a 25% deposit.
This site will tell you most of what you need to know. http://www.cmhc-schl.gc.ca/en/bureho/buho/index.cfm |
we were only rejected by cibc who told us that they never lend money to immigrants. five minutes earlier they were trying to give us a VIP account! but we were offered mortgages from at least 4 others.
|
and was the offers when you got there straight away, and how much deposit did they want
|
we got the offers straight away, it really didn't take long either. we opted to put down 25% but i don't think it was essential.
i should mention, we are not landed either, just on temp. work visas. so if they will give us a mortgage then i'm sure others won't have a problem. we did have a credit history here as we'd lived here before. i don't really think that made any difference but i can't be sure! you can also assume other peoples' mortgages when buying a house (only if the seller wants to). i believe they are easier to get. |
One of the best mortgage rates are offered by ING. I have a 1 year closed mort of 3.55%.
