Montreal, etc.
 

Any Brits living in Montreal? Well I mean there must be, but any on this forum. We are considering options. Our family consists of me (English with U.S. citizenship as well), husband (Mexican) and small boy, (all three citizenships!). We both speak French (a bit rusty, but revivable) and Spanish. What is life like? What is employment like? Schools?

Any input gratefully received. :)

Hi there,

Montreal is a great city - the best of England and France combined - and I speak no single word French. (My English is not perfect too, as I am German)
Unfortunately my husband had to move to Ottawa (not bad too) so I miss Montreal, but return at least once a month for a short visit. There is a huge English part of town in the west along Sherbrooke West Ave.

Absolutely,probably the best city in Canada
to live as far as an overall experience, I don't speak French but,if I could a bit I would live there in a heartbeat.

Not that you can't get by in English just that
it would be harder to get employment as a unilingual.

A large ethnically diverse liberal city with a very European feel to it.

A city full of culture and life,with a completely different vibe than
say Toronto.

You have to like being able to buy beer in foodcourts at the mall. ;)
