In Calgary, maybe - but not in Kelowna.
The car insurance is probably only a little bit high, and Medicare is $108/mth for a family of 3+

No it is not a town house. It is a house in High Park. I put 70% down. I can get a townhouse with 0 down for 1200 month so......but I don't like townhouses. it took awhile but you can buy nice house in Toronto. between 240,000-300,000 but you have to do a bit work. I look over 40 houses before this one. it on the border of etobicoke and high park.

But really it should cost no more than 2,000 a month to live in Toronto. Anymore than that what is the point. You might as well live in London England......
I don't want to live in London, it pretty much blows as far as I'm concerned.

Just looking at my numbers and with a current family of 3 and a bigger mortgage than you plan on getting we are spending around $4,500/mth before any savings.

Quick breakdown:
Mortgage - $2200
Cable & Phone (Vonage & Shaw in Calgary) - $140
Groceries, Superstore and Co-op - $1000
Petrol - $100 though neither of us drives to work
Gas & Electricity - $300
Home $ Car Insurance - $240 ($80 house, $160 car)
Car Payments - $350
Property tax - $150

This doesn't include any fun stuff and is just the basic household budget month to month. Estimates for you have don't seem too far off.

Still intrigued to find out how someone can live for $1000 or less that was posted earlier in the thread.

In Etobicoke I think it can be done, just about, but not in High Park.

That's housing cost, not overall living cost.

Yes all the utilities. Heat-Water-TV-Computer - House Insurance - The shopping and petrol probably another $800 at a guess. I don't count insurance as house cost or going out either or shopping. Those all options we can live without. accept perhaps food. So I don't count them as utilities. Thats my monthly out goings
