Many seniors are choosing to live in 55 plus communities and complexes.
They sell their own home and either buy or rent one. Some of these are pretty good and they are around people of their own age.
Ive told my parents to look into one but NO they dont want to move out of their house as they feel they are being told what to do and losing their independence. Sorry dad Im not driving 750 kms to come and shovel your driveway or cut your grass.

She never married (probably why she's lived so long). She remembers Dief campaining from the back of a train in the late 1950s while the line was still active, but then again she was only a few years from retirement by then She retired in 1969! Thank god she has a gold plated teachers pension, shes been retired since before I was born All in all a remarkable woman. She'd been a teacher all her life, but when she wanted to move out of town when she retired, her brother had to counter sign the mortgage because the bank would not accept an application from a single women. Times have changed...

They are fricking expensive! Some of the local complexes are ~$4k and up a month! My dad is very independent and in good shape for a 77year old. He chooses to spend the money on cruises instead, better food, better service, better view, more to do, and less money!
