Mobile Phones

HI
We are visiting Alberta / BC in May this year as a bit of a rec visit, we are bringing with us our UK mobiles and need to make several calls whilst there.

Would it be cheaper to use the UK mobiles or purchase a pay-as-you-go sim card for them (they are tri-band)
:)
thanks

Hi Riddle,
My wife and I have used our UK orange and O2 phones out in Alberta and Ontario with no major costs (in fact a lot of calls were actually included in my free minutes)

We are on Vodaphone - any use?

The wife has used her company Vodaphone to ring from Alberta to Montreal and Toronto to Montreal as well as in province when we were in Alberta. The company never questioned the phone bill so I'm presuming that again it didnt have massive cost implications (she is on a phone budget so if it had been expensive it would have been flagged)

They don't seem to sell Pay-as-you-go SIM cards here.
You can get a PAYG phone for around $50 and buy international phone cards (5,10,20 $) for international calls.

Calls to UK are only about 5c a minute!

Buy a pre pay phone card and use the public phone system, you'll save yourselves a fortune.
