It is, of course, extremely unpleasant to live through a Canadian winter. The severe weather is the primary reason that people can enjoy more of an outdoors lifestyle in the UK than in Canada.

Yes, of course. There are no laws here requiring you to stay.

Nor anyone, which is why aging Canadians don't stay here or, if they lack the funds to support their healthcare as they decline, spend only the summer here. Canada in Winter is not a place many people would choose to live.

lots of aging Canadians stay here, check out the age demographics of the place and it's life expectancy.

The just of this thread is that only you can decide which place will be better for you. Canada has changing seasons which appeal to some people as diversity, others think the Canadian winter is like a death sentence, so how do you approach a changing climate? Are you able to adapt and embrace the seasonal changes or do you think the winter would put you off? You really should try to experience a Canadian winter before deciding to stay here full time, we are full of people who whine about winter while sitting indoors scared shitless to buy a pair of boots and a jacket. If you are one of those please go elsewhere to make room for those who aren't scared. Oh, and please understand the differences between British Columbia and Nova Scotia before you come. Thx

I've lived in Canada 17 years and have yet to experience a true Canadian winter.

Diversity in action. I've lived in Canada for 27 years and I have yet to experience 4 months of rain.
