medical....when do you get it???
 

i am Canadian and i am going to sponsor my husband to come back home with me to Canada.....we have all the papers filled out and almost ready to mail out...just getting pictures and such sorted....
we have an appointment for a medical in new castle on august....are we getting it to early..or do we have to wait till we are told to get it done....

is there anyone out there in a similar situation as us. Canadian girl married British solider with a 11 month old baby and wanting to go home.....? would love to talk to other people in same situation....

When you're sponsoring, aren't you supposed to send the medical with the application, rather than wait to be asked for it?

Of course the immigration forum would probably be more helpful :).

thanks mark for responding......i am just finding this whole process stressful...so much to fill out and so much to expose to strangers...but i want to go home.......i just feel really dumb about all of this.....

Are you sponsoring hubby, or is he applying independently?

Best to wait until the correct forms are sent to as they may not accept the medical results if you get too far ahead.We received our medical forms 2 weeks ago and have our medical exams booked for next week. Good Luck Vi.

Im in a similar situation - my wife is Canadian and likes the idea of moving back home, so we'd be going down the sponsorship route (if we ever get around to doing it at all that is!). I think sponsorship applications are given a fast-track, so you are able to get the medical done right at the start of the process. I was concerned that the medical certificate would expire before the application went through, as it is only valid for 1 year. Last time I enquired though, I was told that the application process for sponsoring took around 9 months. It was about a year ago that I enquired though, so this may have changed. The weird thing is that when you get your landing permit, it is only valid until either your medical or your passport expires, whichever happens first. I think this means that you'd only get 3 months to make the move over there once the application goes through (assuming a 9 month processing time).

Yep, if you're sponsoring you get the medical done *before* you send all the forms. But leave it until the last minute though, as your visa will expire on the one year anniversary of the medical. Mr B had his medical done in the March and didn't end up sending his application until the August, which meant that after various postal cock-ups he only had about 6wks to land. It was fine, we went to Toronto for 48hrs for him to land, but of course that money would have been better in our pocket...

hey Becky, I'm in the very same place as you i to am sponsoring my hubby to come home to Canada and we have a 2year son. well what were doing is getting the med and xrays done at the end of july then were going to mail the hole thing off to Mississauga. i don't know bout you guy's but we've found thing a little confusing? ever what to talk feel free to contact me :D
