Today I paied $315 for medical test in one state of US for immigration to Canada as a PR (Skilled category). Isn't it outrageous ?

Hi Sali,

What happened with your TB smear/culture tests?

What about your change of status? Did you get it?

Good luck

Hi Henry,
I found out from the hospital and they said the smear was negative (so, so far so good :-)). As for the culture, I am in my 5th week now. Shall have to wait till November 8th. Thats when the culture will grow 8 weeks and thats when I would do the repeat chest X-ray. Oooooh... each day is a torture!

As for my change of status, I keep calling INS about the status every day, and so far no decision yet. So I have been just fine till date. But believe me, it is such a mental torture and to add to it the uncertainty involved. It gets on my nerves. But then, I guess, its all a part of the game.
It was very nice of you to remember Henry. :-) Pray things work out for me and all of you out there in the limbo.

Re: medical test fee in US

Hi Sali,
I've been following your messages with keen interest. I'm sure you'll
get through all these small issues (like a repeat medical) smoothly.
Just hang in there a bit more...

Now, I notice you mentioned going back to your home country (India?)
at this point, before your landing paper comes in. And I believe
you're going to provide a US address to the CIC for any future
correspondence ? The question that comes to my mind is: Let's say
they're doing your background check in a couple of months and they
send you a letter (to your forwarded address in the US) asking for
your current status in the US. What would you tell them ? That
you're home but you have a forward-to-address in the US ? I mean, is
there any harm doing this (like maybe having your file transferred to
India against your wishes )?

Also, I'm not sure but when you mention "change of status", are you
applying for B1/B2 status ?

Would appreciate your response....
Thanks...

What about my change of status? Its just that I have applied for the
status change and have not heard about the decision on my petition
from INS yet. So right now, I am in a pending status and extremely
nervous what will happen next. Thats about it I guess. :-)

Re: medical test fee in US

Since you have been following my messages, you would know that my wife, who happens to be the principal applicant is in Canada on Employment Authorization. So all communication from Buffalo is at the Canadian address. So much for the address change if I go to India.
But in case you have a situation where you have to provide a friend's address in US when you leave, Buffalo should not have any problems with that. As long as you are comfortable with your friend's reliability, both you and Buffalo should be fine. :-)
And Buffalo would not transfer your file to another visa post (except in the case of an interview to one of the other 4 US cities) unless you request them to. And from what I have heard people say here, even your request to tranfer file may or may not result in an actual transfer. Meaning, they can turn down your transfer request, if they wish. But then again, not very sure on this one.
To your last question, I have applied for a change of status to F-1 and intend to transfer credits to a Canadian school on landing. Remember me talking about a career change in one of my earlier posts ? :-)
But right now its a waiting game for me. Nervous - yes I am!

Re: medical test fee in US

Hi...
Thanks for the reply.

So, do you think one needs to specifically let CIC know that one is
going back to India and just has a forwarding address in the US (in
case Buffalo asks for current status in the US) ?

Or should one merely give them a forwarding address which will be
automatically assumed to be one's new residence in the US (which would
entail having legal status here) ?

Thanks Sali.
take care.

Yes, you should notify visa post about such major relocation.

Re: medical test fee in US

I took the Medical exam in June 2002, and sent the ROLF fee in July
2002 to Buffalo, I have still not received the receipt yet. Does the
Canadian Buffalo
Consulate need to send me the receipt of ROLF, any one received the
ROLF receipt?

Thanks
Harold
