Hi, everybody,

I wonder if anyone could help me with following questions:

I am planning to apply in Independent category, being the principle applicant, taking my husband and daughter with me as dependants. The problems I anticipate are:

1. Six years ago my husband had a brain tumour (non-malignant, successfull operation, never think about it again). There are no consequences to his health from that, but I can't stop thinking that it might affect our medicals. Would it? Did anybody out there applied with something similar?

2. We are both British citizens, however I was born in Russia and lived in UK for the last 10 years. Getting police clearance from Russia is incredibly messy and God knows how long it will take. Seeing that I received British citizenship without any problems, wouldn't it mean that I don't need clearance from previous country of residence?

Alexandra,

1. Only medical experts can answer this question after reviewing results of your
husband's medical tests and health history. You will not know the answer prior
to applying.

2. You need to provide police certificate from Russia - it is not that difficult to
obtain one (usually about $50 does the trick in local police station in Russia),
you may ask family or friend in Russia to help you with this.

The medical condition is not likely to cause a problem.

Some if not most visa post ask for police clearance from every country = in which you
have resided for more than six months over the last ten = years.=20

However, some visa posts, and a growing number, are asking for clearance = from every
country since your eighteenth birthday.

The simple fact that you have become a British citizen will not be a =
determining factor.

Alexandra:

When you are asked to have a medical examination by the visa office you shold have a
full report on your husbands previous medical history. It should include, diagnosis ,
treatment and prognosis. Given the passage of time and the non recuurance of the
problem I wold be optimistic about his chances of passing medical.

Thank you for all the answers. Just a stupid question to finish off: when we are doing a medical, do they contact our doctor? If not, what if we don't declare previous health problems? Just for information sake.
