Default Medical insurance before I go - recommendations please

Can anyone reccommend who I should get my medical insurance cover from for the 90 day period after becoming landed in BC? Should I go through a Canadian provider (but also be able to arrange it from here in the UK)?
Thanks for your wisdom.

There are some suggestions here...

I would get a canadian insurer to avoid unnecessary complications. A few people here have had good things to say about Trent, but I have no direct experience.

One of the good things about Alberta is that you're allowed to pay medicare from day one ... no need to pay private medical insurance.

A couple of hundred bucks for insurance is a drop in the bucket of immigration expenses. Hopefully this would not be the deciding factor in choosing a destination! Did you see on the news that a private medical office opened in Quebec yesterday? Thin end of the wedge in my opinion.
