Medical

Hi, many thanks to everyone who has answered my previous posting, I now have lots more questions but this is the first one I want to tackle. Do you have to have the medical in the UK or Canada and is it going to be months of eating rabbit food and joining a gym as my husband and I are on the cuddlier side of the fence to put it nicely or do they think that as long as you don't have any other problems you are ok? Also do our children have to be examined and x rayed too? Once again I would be grateful for any help
Many thanks
Anna-Maria

You can have the medicals done anywhere, as long as the doctor/clinic is CHC approved.

Size shouldn't be an issue ... they are more interested about whether or not you will be, or become, a financial drain on the country. Things like TB, past or present, would ring alarm bells - strangely enough, Aids sufferers are not necessarily excluded, and medical treatment doesn't get much more expensive than that, so go figure ... :D

I think the children also need to be examined, but I stand to be corrected on this ... there may be an age limit.

The CIC website www.cic.gc.ca has tons of info - you just have to trawl through the various links to get at it .... :)

Hi there Anna-Maria, I have this info in a booklet:

Kids over 5 have to provide a urine sample, to check for sugar, protein & blood.
Kids over 11 have to have xrays done.
Kids over 15 have to have blood tests done. They will have to be examined aswel.

Hope this helps.
