Re: Maybe I am just not employable?
I did get a job. Its not in Vancouver but in Squamish, but I have a friend in Squamish who is letting me crash at until I have a couple checks and can find my own place. Its a hotel here in town, started last week, and so far so good. Very low stress place which is exactly what I need.

Squamish is a small friendly community. A bit wet in winter, but stunning when the sun is shining, and probably easier to get into Vancouver if you need to. Hopefully it will suit you well.

Re: Maybe I am just not employable?
I am starting to think that maybe I am just not employable in today's job market.
Aside from heavy manual labor which I cannot do due to back and knee issues, I haven't been all that picky about where I have been applying.
I looked through my notes today as I track every resume that goes out since if I need to get assistance, I know they will require proof of a job search.
I apply to basically everything from retail, fast food, gas stations, hotels, and pretty much everything in between.
I know my lack of education hurts me, simply grade 12, and 1 college class. And my work experience is limited, airline and hotel related.
But this is just starting to become ridiculous with no interviews coming in at all, usually I can get some, but this time around nothing.
I've always struggled in the job market, but have never experienced this level of difficulty before.

Well done! Did not check recent posts. Hold on to it, and do all "as Romans do"

I know I'm a bit late in the game on this thread but big well done.
A resource I've found really useful is a blog called Ask a Manager
http://www.askamanager.org/
There is some fantastic advice on structuring a cover letter and doing a resume to how to interview, what questions to ask and how to follow up appropriately. A lot won't apply as it's mostly geared toward office work but some really interesting things on there.
