IT/IS Manager/Cisco Techie...GTA area..Help please??
Hi All,
I just wondered if anyone had the time to help me try and answer the following question. Thanks for taking the time to look at this for me.:) I am an IT professional with 10 years in systems and networking. I spent the 1st 6 years in Networking architect /support and design with senior roles Then have spent the last 4.5 years in IS/IT management:- IS Director, Head Consultant, and Network Technologies Manager. I have an in depth Cisco background, and Am a CCNP, CCDP and currently preparing for the CCIE lab exam (Trying to keep my hand on skills high to leave wider options open, and have passed the written) I have a BSC (Hon’s) in Information technology and should have completed my masters by the time we “land†(if successful in the PR stats) My question is that I appear to qualify under the FSW as an IS/IT manager, and really would like some indication of the level of demand? From what I can see there isn’t much. I am happy to go back into techie role and even as contractor/freelancer if need be in the early stages , is there much work about? We are in the early stages of our process, but would like to get an idea, which I am finding diffcultdifficultyst searching the wonder web. I am looking to relocate to the GTA area so id like to focus on this area, but am also interested in the rest of the country if you have an opinion. Thank you so much for taking the time to read over this for me. Thanks, Simon |

LOL,
Maybe if I get some reference from my SE's in the US and Uk, you could drop my Resume randomly around your bulding??? ;) |

I work in IT too and did so for 8 years prior to arriving here.
As it's been mentioned before many times: Networking, networking, networking. The IT sector in the KW-Guelph area is a close knit one and everyone knows everyone else. They don't give a hoot about your certificates or experience and would rather employ a slack-jawed relative of a known friend than an unknown but well-qualified IT guru. Sorry and good luck. |
