Malta QROP passed to wife on death of husband
Expat has lived and worked in Canada for 8 years. UK private pension transferred to Malta QROP 3 years ago. Expat dies wife is beneficiary she also lives and works in Canada. So I am told that the money passes to her with no tax ( UK know that they are living permanently in Canada) If wife takes the lump sum of under $100,000 and has it transferred to Canada does this become income on her tax return?

Canadian tax return? Yes. There is no tax-free lump sum here.
