Makes me angry
Sometimes I read another Canadian immigration forum as well as this one. Occasionally I post on it. Yeasterday I saw a post from a woman obviously concerned about her upcoming medical.
I won't post detail because I don't fell it would be right but there was a medical condition involved but nothing that would cause serious problems for her. At worst a specialist report maight have been needed. I posted a reply as such but someone had beaten me to it and had advised her ( in very bad English) to lie to the DMP. Okay at this point I have to admit I lost my temper a little bit and called him a moron! But what has really wound me up is the resident "expert" on there seems to condoning this course of action. I think his response was , be like a politicain and answer a question with a question (I.E be evasive) . I'm quite angry . The expert on there claims to be an immigration lawyer( I'm now investigating this) , how come I am the bad guy here for giving good advice ? Sorry but this other board (I won't name it) really hacks me off. It's full of people who can barely string two words together , claiming 16 points in English or complaining that they can't keep their US visa and Pr at the same time. A lot of the people on it seem to be of the same nationality , again I won't say which one as people may mistakenly think that I think all people from this country act the same way. Perhaps I shouldn't have said that " I was fed up with the barely literate morons who lie and cheat their way into Canada and then come crying on here when it all goes wrong" Rant over , thanks for listening Zoe |

Re: Makes me angry
I have to admit that part of me posts on there to be deliberately inflammatory sometimes :)
I just find it amazing that a professional immigration consultant can advise people to be anything less than honest. |
Re: Makes me angry
Calm down Zoe, they aren't worth it my dear.
It is disgraceful though that a "so called expert" would advise someone to lie:eek: What a "moron". |
Re: Makes me angry
Actually, it depends on the exact advice. The general rule of thumb (as I understand it) is to answer every question truthfully, but do not offer more than is needed. For example, if you have a medical condition that has affected you in the past but isn't really relevant now, don't bring it up unless asked about it, however if asked a direct question such as "have you had any medical conditions in the last 2 years that required hospitalisation/ongoing treatment, etc." then answer it honestly and completely.

Re: Makes me angry
I've just spent ages trying to find the forum let alone the thread! Any clues Zoe?

"have you had any medical conditions in the last 2 years that required hospitalisation/ongoing treatment, etc." I could answer yes or no and either would be true or false. Damned if I do, damned if I don't. |
Re: Makes me angry
I take your point about ambiguous conditions. Obviously I'm not going into details as it is not my place to give out details of someone elses medical conditions , especially as I pointed them in the direction of this board (also quite likely a point of contention as well).Suffice it to say that this wasn't an ambiguous case. Also I'm not going to give the address of the board as it will only fuel the fire that I'm only out to cause trouble!!!
I think basically I'm quite naive , I play fair and expect the world to do the same. In reality I know this isn't the case. Doesn't stop it annoying me though :p I also hate to see people getting dodgy advice. There are a lot of people on that board who are seriously trying it on. They don't see anything wrong with what they are doing either! Again thanks for listening to my rant ;) |
Re: Makes me angry
Hey Zoe - I agree with you totally, when you know how hard people work to get through this process and the many pitfalls there are. It really is frustrating when someone, who claims is an expert could put an application in jeopardy!
I have not always found a certain experts advice on this forum encouraging, sometimes I have found their responses to be rude. Especially when they made us feel we had no chance of sorting out our application without expert help - but we did sort it out , with the help of many on this board, for this help we will always be grateful But at least the non mentioned expert seems to know the regulations inside out and help others on here to a certain point without charge, which is very generous of them. |

We completed everything ourselves, and that was when 75 points were needed. We were successful. I think using the consultant may haved saved us sometime in compiling the application, but nothing worth the couple of grand he wanted. |
Re: Makes me angry
Zoe, I found the forum, and the thread, and for what it's worth, you were totally right in your response. Ignore the idiots who gave you flack, but what's scarey is the so-called expert giving this kind of advise.

Re: Makes me angry
Dear all,
I am some what of a 'RANT' expert and from what I have read hear I can see that Zoe is quite clearly suffering from Ranters Elbow. Please do not be allarmed by this and you may wish to consult with a second expert to confirm this!! We experts are usually right!!!!:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: |
