lorry driving
Hello everyone my names Michael and im looking into moving to Canada to get a lorry driving job. Ive seen in the truck magazines in England that theres a shortage in Canada and i wondering if anyone can tell me if its as easy to get a job over there as the adverts make out. Ive sent emails to Bison Transport who sent me a application form back and said i can hand into there Calgary depot when i go over there on holiday next month and seem very helpful. Ive emailed H and R transport who every says are the best ones to apply too but they havent got back to me. Ive also emailed a few aggencies but they want alot of money to help so i'll avoid them. Anyway the main reason im on here is to ask if it would be easier for me to move over to canada (i was thinking calgary) and pay for the lorry test myself or if anyone knows of any companies in calgary area who take on newcomers and pay to put them through there lorry tests.

The main thing i want to know is if i was to immergrate over there without the help of a company would it fairly easy to find a company who would take me if i payed for the test myself or if theres any companies who would take me own as a newcomer and pay for my training. Im going to calgary at the end of januaryfor a week for a reasearch holiday but if anyone could help me out with there experiance if they done it that way that would help.

Re: lorry driving
Just be careful with the company you choose and the promises that are made. There have been a few horror stories about the promises not representing the reality.

Once you've got the written job offer and LMO, you can then get your Temp Work Permit, and that's when you move. HTH, good luck. |
