Looking to relocate to Vancouver
Hi all
Well in brief I’m from Scotland but I've been in Hong Kong for the last 8 years with my wife and my wee daughter (and one on the way). Anyways, I have been brain washed by my Canadian friends about how great Canada is and they have been talking up Canada a lot especially British Columbia. They said due to my background and international exposure over the years I'd find it easy to get a job in Canada and that it would be a great place for me to live and prosper in. However, I'm not to sure about that, as everywhere in the world is not so easy now to find suitable employment or to find work that one is strongly qualified in. I know this is the intro section of the forum, so if there is a specific section where I can post a thread with reference to asking questions about finding work in Canada for a ‘physical security expert’ I'd appreciate your guidance. Apart from that my wife is Hong Kong Chinese (British National Overseas) and my 5 year old daughter holds dual citizenship. My wife is actually very eager to move to Canada due to her friend’s exposure of the lifestyle etc, etc. I'm interested due to the Canadian-Scottish relationship and that British Columbia is a much larger scale of my old neighbourhood back in my motherland. Anyways, to all thanks for taking the time in reading my post Scott |

Welcome to the mad house Scott.
You'll be more brainwashed reading all these threads! Only you can decide what is best for you and your family but I want to wish you all the best, whatever you decide to do. Try a reccie visit or two, then you'll have more idea of the country and job prospects. Good luck. |

Sorry ,not clear about 'physical security expert ' job is like. As suggested by NovaBoy,perhaps a reccie trip to Vancouver will be helpful for job hunting and explore BC. Another avenue to looking for jobs is by using the Vancouver Yellow Pages. http://www.vancouverplus.ca/ http://www.jobbank.gc.ca/ShowJob_en....ent&Student=No http://www.jobbank.gc.ca/ShowJob_en....ent&Student=No http://www.jobbank.gc.ca/ShowJob_en....ent&Student=No Best Wishes, Yoong |

Re: Looking to relocate to Vancouver
Thanks for your comments and it sounds like a good idea to suss out they area I am prospecting. I answer to your question where in Scotland am i from? I am from a small town in the borders called Scotland.
But for those of you who maybe a Fraser or related to one will know we were once Highlanders, so in my heart I'm more of a Highlander in terms of being a patriot. Have a great weekend, well what's left of it! NS |
