the LONG WAIT in MLA and ELSEWHERE

just curious to find out, how long does the entire processing of immigrant visa for Canada in other countries?

some applicants (with exceptions) in MANILA, the wait is from 36-48 months!

i've heard a few stories that the wait is cut in half in KOREA, KSA, or SINGAPORE...

also, any idea, comments, suggestions, reactions on how to expedite such processing? thanks!

One can only apply from his country of citizenship or country of residence. If you are resident of philippines, then u cant apply from elsewhere. the waiting period is unavoidable. From various threads in this forum, i have understood that the only thing one can do is give all the information to CHC, honetly and exhaustively. That way it takes the least time to process when your file has been taken up. There seems to be no way to jump the queue.

well if you get a job there, and if your employer is willing to make apply for a work permit for you then things are different. your visa will be ready sooner, but ofcourse there are certain rules and regulations for work visa too. search for work visa threads in this forum for more inforamtion.

good luck

The quickest way is to marry a Canadian, even quicker if you have children (Canada wants them more than anything) but they take time to acquire :)

i am embarassed to admit that i refused to believe that the long wait takes up to 5 years (to some)! call it stubborness and belief on positive reinforcement. :D

hhmmm...thank u so much for your answers and acquiring working visa is the closest thing i can try.

take care!
