It's all irrelevant. Anyone who reads the first post and then recommends that the OP move to Toronto based on those circumstances is a ****ing idiot.

That depends on the value you place on money relative to other things in life. It's not like the OP and her OH will starve in Toronto.

Some people think there are more important things in life than just money. For example, my daughter developed asthma after we moved from Toronto to London and then her symptoms improved dramatically after we moved away from London.

By the way, something else for the OP to consider:

Yep. Like I said they might be worth what you paid for them. But then again, every single one I've seen has ranked Toronto above London. Food for thought.

Nice photo Ultra, thanks for posting.

You may have seen this on in the Telegraph (No. 16 of the Changing Skyline series). Regent Street is looking good, despite the construction.

My point, of course, is that having lived in both London and Toronto you've chosen American suburbia. One may think that an odd choice or a safe and sensible one but, either way, you're commenting on life in each of two cities while living in neither.

Kingsbury, btw, has changed in the past twenty years only in that the National Front pub was converted to an Indian restaurant (once the Plough and then the Great Eastern) and then went bust. Which of these changes was for the worse is subjective.

Now that's what I call progress!

I nearly died laughing when I drove by and the St. George's flags had been replaced by gold script signage. We'd just driven up the Edgware Road from Marble Arch. When we were in Kilburn my companion, an American, remarked "looks like Toronto" which, I suppose, is fair comment if you're thinking of the Danforth. It's the grime, you see.

Regent Street is undergoing a £1bn facelift, with major rebuilding going on behind the existing facades.

I will spend all day trying to make some sense out of that.

Very good. But it's the Torygraph, you don't expect it to make sense.

I've never been to Toronto, but now I'm relieved that I needn't bother, because I have lived in Kilburn.

Mind you, if Toronto has a pub like the old Cole Pitz then it's still probably worth a trip.

Is the Duke of Westminster footing part of the bill?

I've been to both, but never did it occur to me that there was the slightest similarity. Maybe I just hadn't drunk enough?

Did I say that Toronto is the best city in the world? Someone can say it's the best city in the world for them personally. That doesn't mean it's the best city in the world for everyone and it doesn't even mean it will always be the best city in the world for the person that said it. I have no idea whether the OP should move or not. Seems like she has a cushy situation in London. She could move to Toronto and have it turn out to be the best thing she ever did. Or it could be the worst thing she ever does. Chances are the truth will lie somewhere in between.
