Re: living in sin in quebec
Living in sin is the norm is QC but it has its risks. While recognised for most purposes, it has no basis in law. That was pointed out to us by our notaire when we went to make wills a few years ago. At the time, we both had dependent kids living with our exes. If Souvette had gone under a bus, her ex, via her son, could have had a claim on her estate (ie the house I was still living in etc).
We got married pronto and have reciprocal wills/POA's, with executors from both families that we both trust. |

Re: living in sin in quebec
I find it ironic that in Quebec the law, de facto, discriminates against those who dare to be shacked up or, as we used to say, 'are living without the benefit of the clergy
I assume the same applies to gay couples Well (as a public service) you have all been warned should you ever be tempted to settle down in la belle province |
