Living near Lake Simcoe
Looks like will be landing in Toronto late summer and as we will be arriving with our two year old I would like to cut the amount of time we spend in rented to a minimum. Can anyone therefore advise as to the best neighbourhoods/suitability of bringing up a family in and around the Lake Simcoe area (Georgina, Keswick etc).
Many thanks

Thank's for the reply, that is an intersesting point regarding the commute. I assume you mean to downtown Toronto, how long is that by car?, can it be done by train?.
Thank's again

There are bus stops in Keswick and Jackson's Point. If you caught the bus at 5:30 am you could be at work downtown by about 9:00. Getting home again would be tricky, there is a bus and train combination arriving at 8:00pm but you'd have to catch the train at Union at 5:15pm; miss it and you're on Shank's pony. By car you could pretty much count on doing the trip in two hours and a quarter each way but you'd have to park somewhere, that'd run you $15 a day.

Thank's again, that's a serious commute, to be honest that wouldn't really be a problem as I would be working from home but my wife currently works for a university and would be looking for similar work in a college. Are there opportunities nearby, Barrie?.
Can you offer any advice on the areas between Lake Simcoe and Toronto.
Many thanks

I live in Bradford and it is a nice little town and only 10 minutes from Newmarket for the Mall.

Thank's for that, I think we'll have a serious look at those areas. Do you have any real estate links for Newmarket, Bradford etc, I've used Realator but it tends to cover less specific areas.
Thank's again.

We moved to Newmarket and got to know a really good realtor. He was born in town and seems to know his stuff. If anyone wants his info give me a shout.

We are also in Newmarket and find its a great location. Easy to get into the City and also a nice ride to Lake Simcoe.
Weather not too bad as we are just off snow belt but still get a nice amount!!
Hollands Landing is nice as well but there were no houses for sale in our price range when we were looking
Good luck!
