Velvet Revolver, pure mentalists. Stereophonics, solid Razorlight, surprising quality. Floyd, sheer class and nice touch with Roger Waters returning. Maria Carey, complete prima donna utter waste of space  Rich  :) |

Watching this show, and seeing the various venues around the world. It just confirms by opinion that British music has always been and is still the best in the world
However, at the end of the day the whole show was to remind everyone that people are starving to death in Africa. Will it make a difference? Probably not, Africa is full of corrupt tinpot dictators who need removing first. Would that ever happen? Probably not. Will the G8 leaders be watching this and thinking oh my gosh, we really must do something - yeah right! The Who and Floyd were great to see :) |

Also Madonna showed that she got it where Maria didn't! Let's hope that this is the start of a momentus sea change in attitude and that the trade barriers fall and that corruption is shamed. Viva Africa! |

Viva Africa! Hands down to Madonna she was fab. I still can't believe that there is so much poverty in the world, it really wants to make me do something proactive like become an aid worker. However it looks like to you have to have a phd to become one!! |

Re: Live 8
Note end piece :(
Sunday, July 03, 2005 BARRIE, Ont. -- Neil Young, Gordon Lightfoot, Bruce Cockburn and the Barenaked Ladies were among the homegrown musical stars who crowded onstage last night to belt out "Rockin' in the Free World", bringing down the curtain on a raucous Live 8 concert bash. It was the first time Young had performed since suffering a brain aneurysm earlier this year, and 35,000 concert-goers roared their approval. Immediately after the song, musicians broke into a chorus of "O Canada." It was a fitting end to a day of shows held simultaneously to pressure leaders of the wealthy G-8 nations to increase aid to Africa when they meet in Scotland this week. "Today we are part of the biggest rock concert in history," said Bryan Adams, one of the day's first performers at Park Place, about an hour's drive north of Toronto. "We're seeing people power. I believe in that." Hosted by comedians Dan Aykroyd and Tom Green, the Barrie gig had been criticized for a talent lineup that some deemed "over the hill." But the mostly 20-something crowd seemed happy to spend much of the nine-hour event clapping along to hits by rock veterans like Young, Adams, Cockburn and Tom Cochrane. Montreal's Simple Plan injected one notable dose of youthful energy into the event, sprinting around the stage and squirting water at the crowd. The only sour note of the day occurred when the crowd booed a satellite performance from Las Vegas by Quebec singer Celine Dion. "No, no, no," scolded Aykroyd as the catcalls rained down. "Be proud of Celine Dion. She's here to help and entertain us. She's working hard, hard, hard." |

I took a took a look at the BBC coverage today and they had attendees from all the different concerts write about their Live 8 experience. However Barrie was missing, I wonder why!? Don't get me wrong Barrie is a lovely place, but imagine if the U.K had decided to host Live 8 in Doncaster. |
