Default Life insurance in UK when living in Canada

Does anyone know if you're eligible for life insurance products in UK when living in Canada? I have an existing plan and they let me change the address to Canada, but I want to change the cover and wondering if I am able to check for cover with different providers from UK? or do I have to do this in Canada now.
Cheers

when you changed your address did you tell them that you are no longer a UK resident? I've seen life insurance for expats advertised which makes me think that you need to be a UK resident for UK insurance. You need to check your policy wording at least.

Thanks. Yes I did call and say I am moving to Canada on a work permit and if I can continue the cover, to which they confirmed okay and then updated address after moving.
I am not sure if this changes when I become permanent resident.
But to my main question, it seems like you have to do it in Canada when you're going for new policies...

From the Canadian side. I have reveiwed life polices with clients that live abroad. I had a client that moved back to Chile. The policy is stil valid. Only exception is any modifications etc have to be done with signatures.

The same rule may apply but you would have to speak with a UK life agent.
