Letter from CIC requesting new pics!

Hi,

We are landed PR skilled workers but currently based in UK. I am the only one in our family to have recieved their PR card. Both my husband and toddler son have had letters stating that new photos need to be submitted and thiers where unacceptable. :(

However, they are asking us to drop them into an office in Ontario. Does anyone have any experience of this?

Kind regards

I have no experience of this but i would hazard a guess that they will need to have more photo's taken. Once they're ready i would think they should drop them off, or post them to, the office you have been directed.

This is a wild guess though ;)

I've read situations similar to this a few times on here before so no doubt somebody will be along shortly to tell you their story :D

My son's photo had to be retaken for his PR card while we were living in Montreal. We were given an appt. in town to get his photo redone and that was it. Not sure how you go about it when you're not in the country though - sorry!

When you first landed and gave in the form for PR, did you have to give in new photos or did they use the the photos you submitted with your initial PR application form?

Have you still got the forms with the sizes etc on? It should be easy peasy to get them done and couriered. Not sure what the question is?

Yes, but the letter requests that they are returned to the office in person. I will have contact them and say that they will be courieried. Just interested to see if anyone had something similar whilst based in the UK.

Thanks for all your responses. :)

Re: Letter from CIC requesting new pics!

We had this problem - we landed and just stayed for 10 days. PR cards were sent to the address we provided, but my daughter was sent an appointment time to get her photos redone.

I tried in vain to contact them directly or through the local embassy.

They were saying that our daughter had to go to the CIC office in Ottawa to get her photos retaken. She had six months to do this, then her "file would be closed".

We couldn't get there to go to the office, so now when we move to Canada we will sort out her PR card. We will have to pay to do this as a new application.

The only issue that I can see is that if you are a PR you are not supposed to enter Canada by plane without a PR card. Apparently you can obtain a "travel document" from the embassy to allow you to enter Canada without a PR card. This costs and is only valid for one entry.

From what I have read on here, people of a nationalilty that doesn't require a visa to enter Canada normally don't have a problem flying to Canada with just their passport. The issue seems to be the airlines - they may not agree to let you board if they think you may not be admitted to Canada and they will have to fly you back again. However if you have a British passport (or a passport from another country with no visa requirement for Canada) there hopefully won't be a problem.

Hi, thank you!

This was the kind of information I was exactly after - brilliant! :)

I am going to have to go away and try and contact them. As we are not planning on travelling to Canada for a couple of years, hopefully they will accept courier delvery of the photo! :D

Yes, our family of 5 was also requested to have photos redone for our PR cards, we were sent a letter to go to the Kitchener office. Our photos were taken in about 5 minutes. I don't understand how we used the same photo of each family member for all of our immigration process, yet for PR cards they weren't acceptable.

We're living in Canada though, can you call or email and explain that you'll get photos redone in the UK and mail/courier across? Perhaps you could contact the consulate in the UK and see what they suggest.
